Lana Mason is a young lady of vintage style and grace with a passion for singing the beautiful jazz standards of the Great American Songbook. This passion is displayed in her debut album "True Love," featuring the title song, as well as "It Had to be You," "My Romance," "All of Me," "Fly Me to the Moon," "Moon River," and "When I Fall in Love." Among the musicians accompanying Lana on “True Love” are her dad Randy Mason, best known for his years playing drums for Merle Haggard and Jimmy C. Newman; and her uncle, award winning studio guitarist, Brent Mason.
Born and raised in Nashville, TN aka “Music City”, Lana comes from a family of musicians and singers. Like many great musical artists she started performing in church. Outside church, Lana’s heart led her to the songs and singers of old: Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald to name a few. Lana is also inspired by current day artist Michael Buble’, who has successfully carved out a career singing old and new music. Like Buble’, Lana’s mission is to record classic songs, making them her own and also original songs that suit her style and appeal to a modern audience.
Thanks to the age of the internet, Lana has performed over 350 live shows to almost 9000 viewers worldwide on Streetjelly.com, a live streaming website for singers and musicians. She became one of its earliest and most popular members affectionately nicknamed "The “Princess of StreetJelly" by her fans, or "Huckleberry Friends" as she calls them, in reference to her popular rendition of "Moon River".
In November of 2014, Lana released an original song on iTunes. “December,” is a romantic torch song perfectly suited for the Christmas season. Lana’s recording of “December” has been described as “a perfect rendition back to the days of class and sophistication” and Lana herself as a “polished gem” whose “beautiful voice and jazzy accompaniment bring you right back to a piano lounge of crushed velvet and polished silverware from yesteryear.”
Since releasing her album in September, 2016, Lana has been performing at local Nashville venues including guest appearances at the Nashville Palace, Hotel Preston with the Lynn Beal Big Band, and 3rd & Lindsley with Vince Gill and The Time Jumpers (Visit Lana’s YouTube channel to view this performance.) Lana is currently a featured artist at Fontanel performing regularly in Café Fontanella. WSM Radio icon Devin O”Day heard Lana singing in the Café one of those nights and was so impressed with her talent and beautiful voice she invited Lana to be a guest on her radio show. You can also see Lana perform and have a great meal every other Saturday at CJs Restaurant in Murfreesboro.
